You can watch news on television, you can read it in newspapers or in the internet and you can hear on the radio. I think it is very important for people to stay informed.
I think nobody should close his or her eyes from reality and what is happening in the world. Especially when there is so much war and crime in the world it is important that everyone has the possibility to get informed because than we have the chance to change something. I think there are many interesting news like local news about what is happening in your neighborhood and country, also interesting are news which concern the whole world and every person that lives on this world, like the global warming or wars and politic changes.
But I also have to say that there are information’s on television, in newspapers… which are called news turning round stars and “VIP´s” and they have in my opinion nothing to do with news. Sometimes you get information´s about fashion trends from stars or you have some topics for small-talk and so this “news” can also be interesting for some people.
I think news are also important for education, if we think of a world where are no television or internet we would know nothing what would going on and that would be dramatically. In our time everyone have the possibility to inform oneself about he or she wants and that is great.
To conclude, in my opinion it is important to stay informed, but not everything what is called news is necessary for our population.

5 sentences about a graph

This is a graph, which tells you about the cannabis metabolite level in urine over time.
It surprises me that the downward trend over the period needs nearly 20 days to get to 0.
It is quite interesting that the decline trend after 5 days again a little rise has.
The graph has a slow fall over the period.
It is interesting that the graph has many fluctuates.

letter of application

Mattias Moosbrugger
Schützenstraße 4
6832 Röthis
02.02.09

Fam. Is the message relevant for us, too? Explain!
Black Policeman:Racist against black people.Scene:1. A burglar gets into the house of Tre and there the policeman said: to bad that you don’t get him.2. Tre and Riccy drive home from the party. Suddenly the police stop them and one of the policeman hold a gun at Tre’s face.In Austria: That’s also like the situation here. It can also be that such a situation happens by us.
Mother:Mother is different, because she earns more money. She lives different and she also doesn’t want to use slang. She wants to be integrated and be like white people. (The way she lives and the restaurant she chooses.)In Austria: A white woman from the middle class who wants to belong to the rich people.
Education:It’s not usually that a black person gets a good job and a good education. The education is biased for white people not for black ones. For example: Riccy’s wife. Riccy is dead and so she has nothing now.In Austria: It is very important to get people educated otherwise it could be that they have nothing. Turkish people aren’t as good educated as Austrians.
Drugs, alcohol, guns came from white people. It’s them making profits. In Austria: We don’t have a gun problem but the drugs and alcohol come from rich white people and are consumed by poor Austrians or Immigrants.
Black people are interested in keeping their family together. That is a fact. For many people means this “Struggle for Beauty” and that is not really good. In this essay I want to show you the pro and con aspects of this struggle.

The positive aspects of making use of any means available to keep or achieve beauty seem to be far away. But they are not. One means would be fashion and fashion have a lot of good aspects, for example it creates many workplaces for people, it´s also a positive aspect that people who don´t have the time to go to gym or to do a diet can conceal his or her body. A second means would be dieting or a healthy diet. If you try to lose weight with a diet you have a lot to do. But maybe you can see some results for example that you feel healthy. And one last means I want to list is surgery. A positive aspect of surgery would be that when you had an accident and your face is burned you may get a operation that everything makes like before.

Of course there are also many negative aspects to this struggle. When surgery becomes normal for everyone like everyone has breakfast, which would be a very negative aspect because it would mean that a normal human can´t be beautiful. Also fashion has negative aspects, for example the child labor or the exploitation for poor people. Even diet has negative aspects, because when you make it in a wrong way you may harm yourself or get anorexia that wouldn´t be really healthy or beautiful.

May own attitude to this topic is, that fashion is important, I like to wear cloth which good for my figure and I think it´s a good way to express my attitude to beauty. There are too many “fat” people who can´t dress themselves, I can´t understand why are they walking around looking so ugly. I never had done a diet so I haven’t really an attitude to this specific topic but I think if you are shabby and you want to lose weight it´s positive when you make a healthy diet. And surgery I think is good, when the people practice it in a normal way. I don´t know if I would have it but it´s good to have the possibility.

So to conclude this essay, to keep or achieve beauty is not always a struggle. People should do what they want and they should look like they want.

Group 3 beauty discrimination / prejudice

GROUP 3 beauty discrimination / prejudice
PRO(discrimination / prejudice because of beauty is okay…)• when you earn your money with your appearance (model)• when you have to represent your company• if you are ugly AND disgusting AND unkempt (run like stink)• if you are beautiful, you are able to show it• more advantages for men
CON(discrimination / prejudice because of beauty is NOT okay…)• when you’re ugly, but the beautiful, stupid one gets the job, even when you’re better• when your appearance is not related to the job• it’s not your fault when you are ugly, so it is not okay if you get hassled• pretty women get often discriminated because of jealousy• beautiful ones are more arrogant than ugly ones (most time)
ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS• skills should be more important than beauty• you should be dressed suitable• you shouldn’t have an untidy-looking• beautiful persons are more self-confident

City life vs. country life

When we think about the life in a city or the life in the country, we have certain opinions about this topic. On the one hand there are people, who live in a country, who want to have more action and a better party life, so they want to life in a city. But on the other hand there are also many people in a city, who want back to nature and more silence, so they want to live on the countryside. So witch is the better place to live? City or Country?

Let‘s compare a city and a country life and take a look at the positive aspects of living in a country. Fist of all there is clean and fresh air and you have wonderful nature around your house. You can make sport, you have much of happy animals in your life and people who live in the country are less stressed.
One disadvantage of country life is that public transports are rare and the way to another village can be very long without a car. There are also not very much places to meet other people so its not easy to get to know new friends.

Also city life has positive and negative aspects. One positive aspect can be that it‘s very easy to come from „A“ to „B“ that makes you flexible and brings me to my second positive aspect, that you have in a city never the problem to meet friends.
Negative aspects are for example much traffic, no good air, the stress and that it‘s always laud around you.

To conclude I can‘t say witch life is better, everyone have to make there own choice of place he/she want to live.

My Style

I think my style is quite normally, although cloths are very important for me. In School I wear the most of the time the same few T-shirts and the same trousers. At home I always wear very comfortable trousers and shirts and I never wear socks at home because I hate them. But when I go out in the evening to make party with friends or when I have a date with a guy, then I need quite a long time in the bathroom and I have to call a friend to talk about the cloths I wear tonight.
I don’t think that I belong to any youth group. I have my few friends and I mostly do what I want. I live my life like I think it’s the best way to live a life. I don’t look on money, it doesn’t interest me what people think about me except my friends and I don’t like to spend much time ant home. I like it to travel a lot even if it’s only to Linz for a weekend. I like watching TV and I enjoy it to cook for myself and friends.
It’s very difficult to describe what music I listen to. I like very much different tips of music but artist I always can hear are Jason Mraz, Coldplay, Mia and IAMX for example. Music is very important for me. If I am sad I have to hear something that makes me cry and if I am lucky I have to hear something that makes my heart dancing.
There are not very much things in the world which influences me. One of the things which could influence my life are my friends or another one is good music. I can’t understand why so much peoples are influenced by there marks they get in school. Of course I am happy if I got an A in a test but this feeling is after a few minutes away. The same with bad marks, there are people in may class who could cry the whole day only because he/she got a bed mark.

BOOK REVIEW

“The perks of being a wallflower” is written by Stephen Chbosky born in 1970. It is one of the most popular coming-of-age stories from the 1990s. The book tells us the story of Charlie who is a high-school student. The Novel consists of letters from Charlie to an unknown person telling about his life.

Charlie is writing over his life as a wallflower. He gives a close-up look into his world, his friends, family, school, problems and experiences. There are things happened in the past, which he has to come over so he has the possibility to a fulfilling life. In the book there are much of serous themes like drug using, abortion, suicide, mistreatment, homosexuality, loneliness and much more. I think most of the themes in this book are timeless and also in our generation current. One of the main messages of this story I think has to do with staying true to yourself and that is one of the main parts of my life so that is maybe the reason why I like this novel so much.

What I really liked about the novel is how it wasn’t afraid to talk about controversial topic. It gets boring when you always read books talking about teens being perfect. I also like how we got a first person-perspective into the life of Charlie and the easiness to read. The book really makes you thoughtfully and I think now it is one of my favourite books.

245 words

Description of Charlie

Charlie is the main character in the novel “The Perks of being a Wallflower”. We don’t get to know the last name of Charlie, how he looks or where he exactly lives, but we know exactly what he is feeling and why.
When the book starts he is fifteen years old and in the he gets sixteen. At First he seems to be very emotionally, shy, intelligent, lonely and smart, but later in the book, Charlie’s personality change somewhat. He often cries for example of his sister, after the fight with the bully, about his dead aunt Helen, after the conflict with his friends because he kissed Sam instead Mary Elizabeth and about Bill, who left the school and who was Charlie’s favorite teacher. He has less of self-confidence. He started to take drugs without thinking about what could happen. He always does what other people tell him to do for example, Sam told him how he has to react in front of Mary Elizabeth, and he started smoking. In the book you get to know Charlie’s Friends Patrick and Sam witch are also important Characters. Patrick is homosexual and he secretly has dates with the quarterback, Brad, and Sam is a beautiful young gild dating Craig. Other persons who stand near to Charlie are Mary Elizabeth, his first girlfriend, his older sister and his brother. And at least Bill, the teacher, who becomes a important part in Charlie’s life.

240 words

Snow falling on Cedars (Task 2 Love)

In this text I will explain you the relationship between Ishmael Chamber, the local reporter and Hatsue Miyamoto, the wife of Kabuo.
When Ishmael and Hatsue were young children they spent a lot of time together and played very often. Although Ishmael was even eight ore nine we can see easily that he loves Hatsue with all of his hard, but we also can see that Hatsue does not respond this in such a strong way.
As grown-up they spent a lot of their time under a cedar tree and loved each other. It was a secret love, because in this time it was out of question that an American boy has a Japanese girlfriend. Under this cedar they had their first sex.
As the Second World War all Japanese had to go into an internment camp and so Ishmael and Hatsue had to separate. In this internment camp Hatsue wrote a letter to Ishmael and said him that it is over. After that Hatsue got to know her Husband Kabuo and married him.
Ishmael stayed alone for the rest of his life. After fourteen years he saw Hatsue in the court, because Kabuo had a trial. But she didn’t want to talk with him. I think she didn’t want to talk with him because she knows that he have still strong feelings for her. One day as it looked very bad for Kabuo, Hatsue asked Ishmael to help her husband. And he does. He found proof that Kabuo can’t be guilty and that was the reason that Kabuo became free. That is a good point in the novel where you can see that Ishmael loves Hatsue really. Because he want that she could be happy even with another man.
I think that is true love.

Task 1:
Dear Raphaela,
Last week I was in a art gallery and there I saw an incredible picture by Norman Rockwell called “The Problem we all live with”. The focus of this picture is on a young black girl with a white dress, white socks and shoes and a white ribbon. She is walking from the right to the left side of the picture and she is carrying two books and a ruler. On the left side of the picture there are two men in front of the young girl who are wearing suits and black shoes. The man in the foreground wears a gray suit and the man in the background wears a brown one. They all sow have a yellow band around their arms and on this band it …. “Deputy US Marshall”. In the background of the whole picture there is a wall. When you look closely onto the wall you can see the word “Nigger” which was wrote on the wall. On the right side there are another two “Deputy US Marshall” who are walking behind the girl. In the background you can see a tomato which was thrown at the wall and now the tomato is on the ground. When I was this picture my first emotion was sadness. I think the artist wanted to show us something about racial segregation, racism and race hatred.
Yours Mattias.

Task 2:
Hi. My name is Hans and I read your discussion about this photo. I think that all of you wrote such a nonsense that I can all sow add my trash.
I think nowadays everything is art no matter from which artist and whether it was intentional or not. Perhaps you don’t like everything, but it’s still art. This photo you are talking about and discussing is all sow art I think. But I don’t think it’s very good. It looks like a photo taken out of a garden magazine from may mother. It looks pretty nice but it’s not really good art like photos from Erwin Olaf. If you have time and most of you look like they have much time, visit the page www.erwinolaf.com and talk about that. I wish you a nice live.

About death

I think there are three big topics which belong to “death”:
1. What happens after death?
First, there are people who believed in life after death with a paradise or hell hand heaven. Second, others believe that everybody has a soul which is reborn in a different body like an animal, a flower or even a stone. Further, some people have a strong unshakeable faith that after death they will be a ghost, and finally, there are also people like me who think that there is nothing after death at all.
2. Near death experiences and reports:
From the past until now people have reported such experiences about near death and they’re very similar: a bright light at the end of a tunnel and beyond this there is a beautiful landscape. For this people it was like heaven and they could hear voices and they said that it was a moment of decision after that they return.
This idea can also be found in many religions. Even very young children ore blind people reported of such an experience. Many people report out of body experiences, they float above their body. Very few people report horror visions and they don’t want to talk about them they call it hell.
3. active/passive Euthanasia:
In my opinion passive euthanasia is alright and in some cases it also would be okay to allow active euthanasia. If a person is totally ill, he/she should have the right to make his/her own decision, but only if this person is in full possession of his/her a faculty.

Dear editor

Last week I read your article “Giuliani forced into climb-down”. In my opinion it’s a very interesting topic, because I know the paintings of Chris Ofili and I know how provocative they can be. On the one hand I have been very glad to read that the museum wins the court process because on the other hand it really would be a restriction in freedom of speech. I like it when art shocks like the Virgin Mary adorned with elephant dung, because maybe when people see something like that they start to use their brain and maybe they think of something they have never thought before. In my opinion art should make people thoughtful, like your article. When I read your text I started to think about the mayor, the museum, Chris Ofili and art. I hope that I shortly will find a new article from you.

Yours,
Mattias

A single smile

I never forget this pretty eyes and this beloved smile I saw after two weeks in Lowood. When I arrived in Lowood it was a cold and unfriendly place for me. Nobody of the pupils talked to me and the teachers were very strict. But after two weeks I saw a cute girl sitting in her bed how was reading a book and as I entered the room she looked up und smiled. From that moment my heart got warmer and warmer and now, after one year, I am one of the happiest pupils in Lowood because my best friend is this incredible girl whose name is Jane Eyre.

I am twelve years old and my name is Raquel Welch. I came to Lowood as a poor, parentless and unhappy girl but now I am rich in friendships, I have a new family by my friends Jane and Helen Burns, another very friendly girl, and Miss Temple. And now I am as I sad one of the happiest girls in this school.

Every day in Lowood becomes better than the day before. Day after day I become better in school and the education makes more fun. My classmates become friendlier to me and my life is better than it ever was. And my whole gratefulness goes to Jane. Because she was the person who gave my life a meaning and I am so glad that I have met her. It is amazing that a single smile in a single moment can produce a totally new human like me.

261 Words

Report about a burglary

CRUEL BURGLARY WITH THE EXCHANGE OF SHOTS

London. (KLIMO). In the night of the 27th March, two men and a little boy broke into the villa of Mr. Brownlow. They wanted to find money. All three thieves were able to flee, but one of them got shot and wounded. The police is suspecting that the wirepuller is none other than Bill Sikes. He is the most wanted crook in London. Bill is a pickpocket leader and a brutal professional burglar. He sends dozens of children out to the streets to steal whatever they can get in their hands. The boy is assumed to have entered the house threw the window in the bathroom. Mrs. Bedwin, Mr. Brownlow's housekeeper, woke up in the night, because she heard a noise. When she was creeping out to the stairs, she saw the little boy. He opened the front door for the two other men. Mr. Brownlow woke up, because Oliver cried for help. Then two shoots fell from the gun of one of the criminals and one of them wounded the little boy. He is called Oliver. In a later Interview Mr. Brownlow told the police, that he knows the little boy which was crying for help. He was put up by Mr. Brownlow and some day he disappeared. Then the boy got gripped by the bad men and they drew him out of the house. "Oliver looked so scared and he was bad wounded, but I was shocked and wasn't able to help this poor creature", said Mrs. Bedwin hysterically to our reporter team.Nothing was stolen but the house is watched by some observant police men now. Mr. Brownlow and his housekeeper are anxious and everybody hopes that nothing bad happened to the probably innocent boy.All inhabitants of London are called upon to watch out of the dangerous crew and their follower, before they are able to start a new burglary. Detectives are still looking for that gang of criminals, but everyones help is kneed! I am very glad to speak to you Prof. Smith. You are one of the most popular Professors from our University and your mats are history and geography and your special topic is Victorian age. That’s the reason why I have some questions to you because I have to write an article for our school-magazine “Bob” about the Victorian age.

Prof. Smith:
Thank you for your invitation I am really looking forward to give you interesting encouragements to your questions.

Interviewer:
One thing I ever want to know is: What are the most important changes in this time?

Prof. Smith:
The Victorians created astonishing innovations and changes in ideology, politic and society. Really new for the 19th century was democracy, feminism, unionization of workers, socialism and other modern movements. It was the time of Marx and Engels, Darwin and Freud.

Interviewer:
How did the Victorians fare?

Prof. Smith:
For the most people, no matter if they were young or old, the life was not easy. It was normal to work seven days a week and child-work was a matter of course. They had to work in mines, as servants and in factories since they are five or six. Later in the 19th century there came a rule which said: children have to be more than ten years old in order to be allowed to work in a mine or a factory. But when Queen Victoria died in 1901 there still were children working so hard under ten. It did not exist a pension, a health insurance or any other social security. The payment was really bad. For hard work they got nearly nothing. Often they had to live like beggar. For the poor children something like childhood or a good education did not exist, they even had no toys to play. On the other side, the rich social stratum had every thing. The children had very much toys, nurses, private schools and they did not have to work.

Interviewer:
Today it is normal for us to get a good education. How was it in the Victorian age?

Prof. Smith:
Less people were able to go to school because it was too expensive. But in 1870 in every country and village had to be a school and all children had to go to the school. It was very strict with hard punishments. Girls and boys where separated. They had different doors to get into school and they also had different mats.

Interviewer:
Thank you for your detailed answers. That’s exactly what I want to know about this age.

Prof. Smith:
You are welcome and I hope I could help you with your article.

hi my sweeties
